I have a Sterling Bass and was wondering if anyone had replaced the stock pickup with a Bartolini. If you have, what pickup was it and how does it sound? Other pickup suggestions are appreciated too.

Fbuzz:

Where in Texas are you? I'm in SATX.

Never replaced a Sterling pickup - never saw any reason to do such a thing.

If it ain't broke.....

I have heard a SR5 with Barts in it and I assume they are basically same. From what I heard the tone was not nearly as good, and actually sounded rather muddled. I wouldn't recommend it.

I don't talk about the Cowboys (Giants fan).

Or, if I do, it's talk that shouldn't be available to underage viewers. Anyhoo, who could have guessed? The Tuna, I guess.

Thanks for the compliments on the website and the SR5. I'm back up to.....two Sterlings, two four string Stingrays and a SR5 with a Bongo on the way!

I guess I like these basses.

Checked your website, too - looks like you guys are doing well.

Ziss you?

Yup.....that's my ugly mug!! :D Giants fan huh?!? It's okay...;)
I'm having a really good time with the guys I'm playing with and the Sterling sounds rather well with that style of music. When I first looked into MM I thought it was a "ROCK-N-ROLL" type instrament, but I've played acoustic, blues, etc....with it and had compliments on the sound of the bass. Very versitile. Go here to see my other bass...

www.fretlessbass.com It's bass #176....I took the stupid sticker off of it as well.
Masamax....Thanks for the input...
