I know,no pics no high heels !

Anyway Finished the first set at a wedding the other night, put my SR5 on it's stand on stage and went to grab a cup of tea. I walked back up to the stage as one of the guests was climbing on the stage ( in front of the sound guy and our roadie,) just as I got to her to ask her to get the f##k down in the nicest possible way,she tripped bounced off my bass and sent flying off it's stand and went head over tit into the drums. She staggered up as we where helping her, fell backwards and stood on my bass with her six inch heels. Mind you I should have picked my bass up and then her !

THe drummers DW kit was in a right mess, scratched and chipped on 3 drums. I picked up my bass and if you know the sick feeling you get in your stomach if you have ever had a really bad kick in the nuts then that's how I felt. NOT A MARK !! I mean I watch in horror as it and the stand bounced off the stage and then got trampled on and nothing, I kept checking it the head stock the back of the neck the body and not a blemish I took it out in the sun light today to double check and it's as good as new.

SR5 built like a tank , it no wonder they sell so well !!

It might not show on the outside but your bass is hurt on the inside. Buy it a new set of strings and take it to dinner and a movie. You are a lucky son of a gun.

I would love to tell you what I said to the roadie and soundman but they said that never before had they ever heard someone use the f word so many times.

Lol that's very funny ! New stings going on this week !
Funny I have always had this thing about any time I buy a new bass I have to bring it to a pub for a night out before I can gig it !

Wow, glad to hear nothing happened to your bass. You were blessed! Sucks about the drums though. So is she going to pony up the jack to fix the drum kit or is she trying not to take responsibility?

Sorry but no pics - no story. The title alone makes me want to break out my camera. :D

Glad to hear all is well.

OK, bass is well, that's most important! ;)

Why was she climbing on the stage anyway? I guess she was drunk or on "something"?

However, ...I know how it's going on weddings, there are always a few bullies who make us (musicians) nervous!

Keko, you know how it is at weddings you get the odd person who has been drinking all day and thinks it's funny to hop on stage for a bit of a dance !
Our gear is covered for damages so we can check the drums and get them fixed if needs be.
She was that drunk I don't think she would remember it anyway.

And no pics guys ! I will not be wearing high heels again no matter how many times you ask :)

Let us know how the insurance turns out. if you have a good experience I'd like to know about your coverage (what company and how much you're covered for).

We go "bare" and sometimes I worry a bit. The contents of my car on gig days are worth more than the car is!

I will send you on the details of the company. But I have all the gear covered up to about 45k and it covers me for 3.5 mill in public liability too and it cost me around 500 a year.
Its a wonderful comfort knowing no matter where my gear is it's covered even if I lend someone a bass it's covered.

My pa kme amp broke a few months back and they covered it to get fixed and paid for a temp amp while it was being done.
Great company and the guy who runs the muso policy in ireland is a guitar player in a band too so he know the craic.

Without all the f-bombs it probably would have taken half as long to scold 'em (every other word?) and you most certainly would not have relieved some of your anger without throwing blows. :)

Once it's all done you may even laugh about it. One of those crazy gig stories.

Hate drunks at a gig.

People are people but I hate being around drunks period!

it's true, the SR5 is built like a tank. Mine has been dropped more times than i can remember - it seems what doesn't kill it makes it rock harder.

Oh man we where laughing about it 10 mins later, I am not the type of guy who worries about battle scars on a bass. I was just amazed that it had none !

I can't hate drunks too much as I would be hating myself for most of my 20's 

Same here - I'd be hating half of the people who come see us play!

My first working bass went through hell and has the wounds to show it. I expect to keep it forever even if i never play it again.

I hear ya! I used to do the same. All our fans were drunk because they had such a good time listening to us play.

I just get annoyed having the same conversation for hours. ;)
