I just took a family portrait of my basses ...

from left to right -

• SR4
• USA J Bass (trans orange)
• my first bass ever - every part except the body has been replaced but he used to be an Epiphone. If you look closely you'll notice a black sticker on top of the P pup. Its a sticker of Butthead pickin his nose. its pretty cool but only cuz its subtle as hell but it always gets a laugh when people finally catch a glimpse
• My Blue Dawn Sterling - named Joey. She's the best best ever made
• black/black USA P bass - its pretty boring, but its a great player

soon an HS Sterling will join this group.

also ... if you're interested in what's in the rack. We've got
a Tele (from 96)
a JP6
an ASS MM90
and a Ibanez Hollowbody that refuses to stay in tune

LOL yup an Artcore. i was on a Stray Cats kick and "had to" have a hollowbody and figured i shouldnt throw down the big $ for the gretsch.

I also have 3 LPs that arent in the photo ...
a 78 goldtop p90 thats hangin above the couch
a faded double cut
and a Gothic outfitted with EMGs - Zakk Wylde style

thanks its got total sentimental value and im trying to pimp it into becoming a good backup.

the EMGs on it are wussy tho. i had someone check it out and it seems like theyre not pulling enough juice. so instead of fixing em i figured id go passive and will put a stock USA F%^nder P pup in there with a Duncan Jazz Hotstack in the bridge.

it plays well tho ... the neck's unfinished in pure "eb wannabe" fashion and the badass is dope. hopefully w/ the new pups it'll have some decent balls and be a good backup (dont wanna take 2 expensive basses to a gig)

Funny... Quick story...

Cousin of mine bought one for the same reason. Following my Sterling set-up from John he was blown away by the feel of my bass and wanted to similarly "improve" the action and set-up on his Artcore.

No matter what we did, we couldn't intonate the thing. And even when the electronic tuner said everything was spot on, strumming any chord resulted in a sloppy, out-of-tune wavering tone...

Got so frustrated from the experience he sold the thing, realized he didn't need one after all!

ya, the artcore is a serious POS - but i love it b/c its got the perfect volume uplugged which makes it a great guitar to have around for song writing etc. its not as quiet as an electric unplugged and not as loud as an acoustic unplugged.

it actually can get a decent dirty sound when going thru a dist pedal tho ...

umm... this is the bass forum so uhhhh .... ya i went upright shopping today. cant wait to get one and stand on it like the dudes from The Living End and Tiger Army
