Found this in YouBoob. Rather cool, actually!

That's "old" stuff here on this forum!

Our friend member pertyman did it, great playing!

Glad to watch it again, and confirm that fretted SR sounds the best to me! ;)

I have to be fair, of course the 2 Stingray sounded lovely, specially the fretless but he is a very talented player and a guy who has a gift, a bit like Ed Friedland in what he could make any bass sound good.

Ed has reviewed some basses in his profession on his youtube channel that I wouldn't have looked at twice but "oh boy" as soon as he gets his hands on them they all give me gas.

As for this chap in this video, I like the sound he gets from all the other basses he plays, except one I just can't get my head around it and that is the W*****k, that is one bass I really can't appreciate the sound of. Even that Alembic sounded great in comparison.

Ok end of mindless dithering... back to business. :D

I am a bit suprized that the Al***ic sounded the worst of the entire group. It quite possibly retailed for at least double fo everything else in the video. The fretless Stingray sounded especially good in this video. Stingray FTW. JOSH

I've always argued that whilst W****k undoubtedly make fine bass guitars, I could never own one because it has no 'soul'. A bit like the Porsche vs. Ferrari debate, except it isn't through choice that I don't own either of those!

Love the playing and especially love the fretless SR.

MMmmmmmm

While I like the video I'm really amazed that there is not so much difference in sound between the basses in this vid.
I mean not so much as in real life when standing next to an ampo with the bass plugged in.
Probably because of the not so good soundcard and converter. And thats always the problem with these things.
I never had an encounter with an Alembic that sounded like this. And the player is quite capable.
So it must be the soundcard right?

But it's funny that the EB sounded best. or most lively.

I thought the EBMMs sounded the best, as well. But then again I'm biased. ;)

I didn't really care for the Warwick or the J-Bass, especially when the bridge pickups were used. I did like how the Alembic sounded, though.

Hi everyone and thanks !!!!!!!!!!!! :)
I think the reason that all the basses sound the same is that I don't have any sound card on my computer (except the one it came with).
Anyway nice to read all your replies.

Perty...

The J (both on, tone off - first clip) was the right bass for the job...

His Sledgehammer cover with the fretless stingray is amazing indeed. (after the vid, scroll through the thumbs at the bottom until you see it). Sweet.

This vid is a good example of why producers don't encourage the use of MM basses; too much personality for many situations. For those of us that like to hear the bass tho, MM can't be beat.
