One thing I noticed is my Stingray 5 sounds better using nickels strings as opposed to my Ken Smith sounding better with stainless steel strings.
Question, if were are ok to discuss this in this forum: What brand strings you use on your EB MusicMan basses. Is the majority EB Slinkys? Are you using different brands of strings on your EB?

I'm not a Mod or anything on here, In fact, I'm basically a nobody here, but I think it would probably be best that we only talk about Ernie Ball strings.

They ARE the best, anyways! ;)

I was using EB Slinkys 45-130. I recently switch to lighter gauge strings 40-125. Now I have to order EB strings. I tried the D'Addarios because they were in stock. Very similar to EBs but different tensions.

Stu Hamm once said the brand of strings makes up 70% of your sound. Do you agree? I think that's a high percentage. But it might be true. Nickel wound strings definitely have more midrange punch compared to Most other Stainless steel strings.

Here's a question?? I really like the Regular Slinkies for my SR5 but am intriqued to try the Power Slinkys. Anyone use them or tried them? Are they a little too heavy or do they satisfiy. My only complaint with the Regular Slinkys is the G string is a little light.

Ernie Ball - Super Slinky's, 105s on a Stingray 4. Sweet.

Can't use EB's with my Lakland though as the 35" scale length and string through body means that there is some braiding covering the nut. Would go back to EB's though if they would fit.

Used to love my 1987 SR4 with the funky aftermarket Hipshot D-Tuner.....we did a lot of work together. Rosie, I hope you're looking after your new owner well!

Look mid-right at the top of the page. Search button. Please don't turn this wonderful place into Talk Bass.

+1.
Although, I've found my peace with talkbass...it still pisses me off if I've had a few drinks. In fact, I have more points on my talkbass record than my wife has on her drivers license. Which is A LOT.

Different strings sound different on different basses.
Maybe you like the nickel because it slightly mellows out the bite of the MM humbucker, and maybe the steel enhances the hifi nature of your KS.

I've played all over the above on my rays. Infact, I have one ray with flats, one with steel, and one with clarinet reeds, since my supply guys haven't ordered me new strings in 6months.

:(

I use whatever BP tells me to use.
Needless to say, I have a MAC.

Well, in order to connect to the internet, you need a MAC (Media Access Control address), so you're no different from anyone else in this respect. Now if you own a computer made by Apple Inc. (Mac) then that's another story altogether. :)
