Interesting idea.

Too bad they would have to wait for virtually every battery-operated device to be replaced with new ones before they could discontinue the current battery style. Most devices have mechanical construction to accommodate the different connectors/ends of batteries.

Someone would have to continue making the current style of batteries for decades...
