Hey All:

Just for info. (since I saw this on a few other posts). Sunday afternoon I had just put a brand new regular Duracell 9v in my Sterling Bass. I noticed the fit was a little tight and the compartment did not close tightly. I got to practice and "NO SOUND!" I took the battery out and popped it back in still no luck. (Note : this was before I had any experience with the battery compartment or had read the forum threads on the battery fit, etc.)

Fortunately, I had the old Duracell that came in the Sterling so I put it in the bass. Compartment closed properly and Great Sound! I was relieved!

Yesterday I saw a 2 Pack of Duracell Ultra M3s recommended for cameras, electronic devices etc. I installed one today and it was a perfect fit, the compartment closed nicely, and the sound was great. I tried the other Ultra in the pkg. just to make sure and sure enough it was a great fit too.

Has anyone else tried the Duracell Ultras or do most of you use the regular Duracell 9v?

Thanks,

Jeff

eb/mm uses duracell. however battery size can vary. different brands can be different sizes, even the same brand can be a slightly different size. you probably got a different size battery.

I've used Ray-O-Vac Maximum Plus Alkaline ever since they came out and have had no probs. Keep an extra one in the case (two in the Bongo case :p ). They seem to fit and last as well as anything else and they're cheaper. :)

I've had this before & I just couldn't figure it out for a fair while. The slightly thicker casing on Ultra's (I think we call them ProCell here) means that that little 'click' into the +/- doesn't happen & hence no connection.

yup, been there, done that:)

appearently, duracell batteries are a bit bigger than 'normal' ones.
When I firtst got my musicman, I wanted to check the battery compartement, opened it with a lot of efforts, closed it.... no sound, just like you
I went immidiately to my dealer, and he sended me to his repair guy (small shop).
The cables from my battery box to my pre-amp were just loose. So he took out the battery box and pre-amp, and reconeccted the cables.... 10 minute job

Thanks for the tip geetar42. I picked up a few yesterday. Fit real good.Nice and smooth like a battery should. . :D

I was getting some tired of having to pound them in with my framing hammer. Prying them back out with the cats paw was even worse. :(
