Just in case anyone's interested...

There's a Brand New Left-Handed Axis Sport at a local Long & McQuade here in Ottawa - silver sparkle finish with matching headstock, rosewood board, stoptail bridge. It's been on the wall for a long time but I gave it a quick eyeballing today and it looks essentially unplayed... They want $999 CANADIAN for it (that's about $810US) and it's a steal at that price! Heck, I nearly bought it and I'm not left handed!!

Check out http://www.longandmcquade.com/ if you're interested for their phone number and address...

I tell you Jimi I love my Silver Sparkle one. I think that it is one of the best sparkle colors they made. I like Blue Dawn, but I love the Silver more. You could do a Hendrix thing and play it righty, might be kind of neat.

For a new Axis Sport in CANADA? That's about $600 less than my nice new Sport cost (and it was on sale!), so ya, that's cheap!

And this has got to be the worst time of year to try and sell a guitar - nobody's selling anything around here right now...

Hi There,

First post, but a long time reader of the forum...

I have been looking for a good deal on a lefty EBMM for quite a while now so I'm really interested on that post. I thought that they only offered the super sport in lefty models, so is it a sport or a super sport? What is the difference between the two models (I know this has been discussed before but I can't seem to find the info on the forum right now)? Is it possible to negotiate the price at long & McQuade (at Steve's in Montreal it is usually fearly easy to have them lower their price by a couple of a hundred $)?

Thanks for the info...

Nick,

They don't make the Axis Sport anymore, but they do make the Axis Super Sport, which is available in a left-handed config. (The regular Axis is not available lefty.)

Unfortunately, there is no information (that I could find easily) available about the Axis Sport on the Music Man web site. We'll have to wait for an EBMM employee or historian to chime in before we know the specs of a Sport.

Edit:

It looks like the Axis Sport was available in SSS, HSS, HH or two MM90's. The HH and MM90 models had a piezo available as an option.

Thanks for all the info.

I'm assuming that the guitar JimiD saw is a sport since they used to make them as left-handed models...

J-nick, check out my Silver Sparkle, it's sweet!!! Click on the my guitars link below.

The difference between the 2 sounds like it's a lefty and it has a rosewood neck.

If you were thinking about a MM, this sounds like a great deal on a discontinued color.

Hope this helps. Glenn |B)

Axis Sport (discontinued) - Swamp Ash body, no binding, and this one has two humbuckers (in addition to the specs above)

And seeing as how they're blowing it out at $999, I wouldn't count on getting them to knock "a couple hundred $" off the price... Why don't you call them and find out?

Yep I called them and the guy did not seem to be willing to negotiate the price too much apart from the usual giveaway of a few string sets...

I will have to discuss with the boss (we all know who that is ;) ) to see if my finances permit the purchase...

JimiD: Do you remember how was the neck (birdseye wise)?

Thanks

Some figure but nothing extraordinary, iirc... but with a rosewood fretboard, it doesn't really make much difference, imho...
