To control my EB MM "goodness" I wanted to get an expression pedal to control the FX parameters of my PodXT.
I've been using some analog pedals but I always go back to my Pod XT, controlled using an FB shortboard. I assigned the one pedal on the board to the wah wah and hankered after an expression pedal to control the amount of gain/delay or what ever FX have been assigned.
I'd looked at the £50 POS offered by Line 6 and decided it wasn't for me.
As chance would have it my good buddy who has an amp repair workshop gave me a really old volume pedal and it was exactly the same size/height as the shortboard. It was missing the mechanism inside that controlled the pot so I fabricated a brass lever and drilled & taped it to make sure it gripped the pot. I moved the jack input to the front of the pedal so the pedal butts up snuggly to the shortboard, wired in a 22k lin pot and it works perfectly.

So I got myself an expression pedal for basically $2 - the cost of the pot.
Spud is VERY pleased with himself and the extra control I now have of my tone;)

I saw the Steel Dan tribute band the other night (Nearly Dan) . Their guitarist was awesome (as he would have to be!!). He used an EB Volume pedal to great effect.

Nice work Spud but can't be with you with the pod I really don't like the sound of this red bean

I respect your opinion, but having owned one since they brought out the XT, I like the sound.

What I like is the user interface on the computer screen, when you plug it into the computer via the USB, you can tweek it to your hearts content. I use no amp/speaker emulation and use my Mesa/Marshall/Fender amps as the power amp.

There are many videos on Youtube comparing it's effects with the real thing - and you will find that they are extremely close. Interestingly enough, on the weekend,I read an article by Francis Rossi of Status Quo who says that he uses them in the recording studio. I see them being used all the time in exhibitions I go to, so they must be pretty good?

People are quick to latch on to the statement that "digital will never sound like analogue effects". But I disagree with that. I feel that statement has been banded about by the stomp box manufactures as they could see their markets disappear by the "digital revolution".

I don't use that many effects and my own opinion is that the Pod performs very well compared to my chain of a wah/compressor/vibe/overdrive/tuner which although purported to be true bypass, does suck your tone.

Horses for courses but I've gone full circle Pod to analogue back to Pod.

I bought the line 6 m13 pedal board and used for about 2 days but it just wasn't for me i really like using an amp dirty channel and then using my ts808 to kick it up some more.
But that's me so I took the line 6 back, some people use the digital stuff with great results I personally never liked the results I get. That's why there's so many products everyone likes something different.

Yup very well put. - 100% agree with you.

There was one occasion when I connected the POD to a Fender amp and to be honest it sounded crap. Just need to dial it in.
What I like with the expression pedal is that you can hit the stomp and bring in the tube screamer emulation and then bring in more gain with the pedal.
