Hey all, I haven't posted here in a long time since selling off my EBMM guitars (still have my bass)...

Is there an option now to get a "fat C" neck on any of the guitars? Does the new 25th have a bigger neck than the Axis? I'm not talking 50's lester big, but more like something that would be considered wide & fat?

I'm looking to pick up a new double hum guitar and wanted to see if these options were available now...

Hey Dave - it has been a while. The ALOC will always welcome you home though.

There is still no separate options on necks - they are what they are for each individual axe. The 25th has the same standard nut width as most other MM's but a flatter radius (12 - similar to a morse) than the AL or Axis. I have not been able to play one - which would be your best bet, but with the questions I've asked I don't think you will get a fat feel. I know you're" familiar with AL and Axis necks, and I don't believe anything will have a "fatter" feel than either of those.

If you search a thread started by spudmurphy, a lot of folks have provided sketches of neck profiles .

Thanks for the quick reply - I'll check that thread, but it doesn't sound like things have moved my way at all :( - unless, of course, the "game changer" is a bigger neck profile... :)

The only MM guitar with a unique width is the JP6 which has a 1 11/16 nut. All of the others are 1 5/8.

Just track down Blues Saraceno and convince him to sell one of his. He's got a few EBMMs with baseball bat necks ;)

IMO, the 25th's neck feels fatter because it is not asymmetrical like the Axis. It sits a little more in the palm of my hand. On a very quick comparison, it's pretty close to the depth of the wide fat neck on my PRS Standard 22. (Keep in mind PRS generally have a 10" radius and the 25th has a 12" radius; the 25th is also slightly narrower at the nut by 1/16th).

YMMV

The 25th neck feels a bit more substantial relative to some of the other MM models. It is a really nice neck, not super petite, not super big.

I wouldn't call it big by any means, but you might want to check one out and decide for yourself.
