I wasn't in the market for a bass, I've been playing a bit of fretless but not enough to buy a new stingray, I've just been playing a Jbass which is alright but it certainly had left something to be desired in both sound and feel, then this popped up in the local classifieds at a really decent price. The ad had one poor quality cell phone photo, being a natural finish I expected a nice wood grain on the body but the ad said nothing about the beautiful birdseye neck, that was a very (very) nice suprise. the only thing is the fretboard's been marked up a bit by rounds, but nothing that effects playability. It's from June 2000, which is right about when my obsession with stingrays began and I started saving my money for my first SR4 which I bought in August 2001 (and still have as one of my two main basses) Just fired on flats and tweaked the setup and it plays beautifully, this one is definatly a keeper. Jbass will be going up for sale...
I picked it up before the holidays but it was painful, I was so busy at work that I went to the coffee shop a block away to meet the seller, bought it after taking a 30 second look at it and went right back to work and finished up a 14 hour day, terrible having to wait that long to get it home a get a real good look and sit down and play it.
