Worked out a trade with forum member Nurnay back in September for a fretless neck for my fretted Stingray neck. Much thanks to him for a smooth transaction. I installed it and it played great, the feel of the neck without frets is fantastic.

I surprised Nicole with the bass, she promptly freaked out and took it to school, where she is now playing it in her high school jazz band (Teacher said best bass tone, ever. And he's a curmudgeon).

We did a gig that featured an instrumental first set at a charity function, so she brought it home and I finally got some pictures.

Any gig with fake trees behind you is awesome, amirite?

You might remember this gig is my Stax/Memphis soul tribute band, we had horns on this one:

Here she is being introduced, she got the loudest applause of the night.

I don't have any recent recordings to post, but if you haven't heard her, our live recordings are here:

Thanks as always to BP & Co. for such great instruments!

I'd be pretty happy too if I got to play two musicmans all the time...

One fretted, one fretless from me and Mrs. LawDaddy. She can get the next one. :)

Freaking awesome.

Playing with your kids is indeed freaking awesome. Or do you mean the basses? They're awesome, too. :)

The band is a true family business. Her older sister took the pics. Mrs. LawDaddy was running sound. My parents and grandmother were at the gig (they love the Stax stuff). Music is truly a unifying force that spans generations.

Hey, I recognize that neck! Glad we were able to work that deal, LawDaddy. I'm loving the fretted Stingray, it's getting equal time lately along with my Big Al (funny that your daughter plays a Ray and an Al like me - well sorta like mine anyway). :)

Awesome to hear from you! The great I-5 Neck Swap was a success. Looks like we both need a Bongo now. :)
