Hi guys,

I recently linked up with my friends to jam and they like R&B, pop and funk music.

As much as I love my JP6's, I've always wanted to get an EBMM with single coils for more variety.

What do you guys reckon is an appropriate EBMM for these styles of music? I'm looking for a sound like the one in this clip:

The Albert Lee interests me because of everyone here raving about them, but I won't be able to get one readily (unless someone is selling!). I'm worried about the neck profile though, as I love the JP6 neck, and the AL apparently has a thick neck? The body shape is also awesome.

The Silo Special interests me because I'm pretty sure Colin has one in stock. It's a little more boring though.

The Luke interests me because I think I know someone who wants to sell.

Can anyone help me decide?

I like Silo Spec, but...I still want the AL and the Luke. If I had to choose one, I'd go Silo Spec. By the way, I love this: [ame="http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=gzyj3Wxhjr4"]YouTube - Jamiroquai - Runaway Live from Abbey Road[/ame]

Jappy - no the AL is not thick at all- I have small hands and I love the AL neck.

Lets see if I can find the thread I posted with a profile of the AL neck...

The SSS Silo Special will nail these funk sounds, especially in quacky position 2, bridge/middle, with guitar volume turned down to 6 or 7. For really bright funk rhythms, the bridge p'up by itself also sounds great with guitar volume turned down a bit. Can't speak for the AL or Luke, but the SSS Silo Special can absofunkinlutely get it done.

Both the AL and the Luke will do Funk no problem. As a matter of fact, out of all the guitars, the AL's body shape would fit in w/ a funk band the best. It has the sounds and the looks!

Jason, believe it or not the guitarist from Jamiroquai used to play MM and it was a Silhouette.

Boring??? No way dude. The Silo Special is an awesome instrument. Very versatile and can no doubt nail those funk sounds. You'll love it!
