I am using 0.10-0.46 Regular Slinkies for standard tuning. I tried drop d but the low D has much less tension than the rest and sometimes gives me buzzing problems. I am wondering which approach will be better:

* Get a low E string from a 0.12-gauge set and mix with the rest from a 0.10-gauge set
* Get a skinny top/heavy bottom set

Also, I was wondering if tension charts are available for the EB strings in general.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks

u know, I drop D with 9-42 #223 never a problem! As far as the tension charts - not sure, I don't think so, however you can ascertain that info at many places on the net.

i´m also using regular slinkies and for drop D i change the 0.46 to a 0.50, which gives me a lot more of control and tightness.
if you are happy with the tension of the rest of the strings, only change the low E string. there i no need to change the A and D string as well.

Tension charts wouldn't really be a big help because the tension varies depending on the scale length of the guitar and the tuning. The feel can also vary a lot, even on guitars with the same scale and string gauge in the same tuning.

I've got a 10-52 set on a guitar in D-Standard, but it was in Drop D previously, and the tension was good for me. I like having the wound strings a bit tighter though. Funnily enough, I just tuned that guitar down to Open C and it still feels great.
