Hey! What's up? So, I'm cleaning my guitar this weekend, but, I don't what would be the best way to remove some rust and sweat off the neck? Home-made stuff? Any other official product that I should try? When I said "rust" I meant that there is some greenish stain on one of my frets and I would love to remove it. How can I give my guitar some shinning on the body? I'll post some pics in a couple of hours. So, that's that. Thanks for Reading guys. :)

I don't think that one of the best ways wo clean you guitar's neck is soap. Why don't you try just a cleanex or a tissue. Remove the strings and try that first. :)

Did you read faq from Musicman about how to maintain necks? The say Lemon oil or Murphys Oil Soap to clean the neck, and after that Gunstock oil and Wax.. But that's about necks without lacquer..

Use 000 steel wool on your frets and fretboard. Make sure you go with the grain and no circle motion. It will take off any oxidation from your frets without damage, as well as get the finger gook off the fretboard.

Well as I said I can't get Murphys Oil soap in Norway, so I'm interested if I can use any woodfloor soap..before I use Gunstock oil and wax..

Are Ernie Ball Wonder Wipes available in Norway/Europe? Those are me thinks the best product to clean up dirt on fretboards themselves as well as condition them. There's no need to do this more than about once a year or so, depending on how much you use the guitar.

It's not the fretboard I'm worried about but the back of the neck..I bought the guitar used and the previous owner never cleaned the neck.. So it's very dirty..

If you're using 0000 steel wool, make sure you use painter's tape on the pickups. Also, throw a towel over the body. The steel wool ends up everywhere.
