Between BFR AL and normal AL, will there be any different in tone?
Or the BFR AL only looked better?

This is only speculation as we don't know just yet. It hasn't really been built.
But I'm assuming the BFR AL has (will) the tone block built into the body which will give it a different tone of it's own.

Thanks , Fogman.
AL will be the last EBMM guitar I will buy. (I hope)
And it's hard to make decision between BFR AL and normal AL?

I'm sure there will be. If the 20th Silo is any indication there will be substantially more midrange and a deeper sound. But who knows if the p'ups will stay the same or change. Time will tell :)

I have asked about a BFR AL and from a source in the know, there is no official word on a BFR AL at this time.

FIng if you havent talked to Dargin or Me then you havent talked to someone in the know as we are deciding what and when gets made under the Ball Family Reserve monicker.

THe BFR Albert lee is really a punchier midrang and maybe a little fatter sound as Beej said.

question for those in the know:

I'm assuming those with 20th Anni Silos chime in too please!

The guitars with the tone block, is the sound comparable to the MM90s? or is it a totally different animal all together? (yes I do understand the 20ths have different pickups)

Hmm...tone block = MM90s? I don't think so. I haven't played any MM90 guitars through an amp. So, I can't tell you that putting MM90s in, say, a Silo will make it sound like a 20th Ann. Silo or not. I've only heard some sound clips. My sense is that it won't work that way. I think these guitars with tone block, maple cap, alder body are totally different.

Maybe, robelinda2 can answer that. He has a 20th, an AL, and an AL with MM90s. (I think.)

That's a good question on my 20th I can get it to sound like to my ears anyway "roll over Beethoven" by Mountain which I assume is a p90 l** P*** special sounds cool with the added harmonics from the 20th

Yeah you are correct i would think, i dont see how a tone block could equal the tone o a certain pickup, regardless of the pickup. The MM90's are much less powerful than the 20th pickups, remember the MM90's are single coils, and the 20th pups are humbuckers, so they really arent comparable. Both are KICK ASS though!
