With all the new BFR's hitting the streets, it'd be cool to get some comparison feedback from those who have now played both BFR & Standard JP's ! :)

Since I am getting a BFR within a week id like to hear the differences as well. From what I gather, its brighter, punchier and more sexy though........... Are there any youtube clips or anything with regular peops playing the BFR out yet?

I was actually wondering about the push/pull coil tapping feature as well? How does this sound?

To my ears and I'm still going back and forth the BFR is a different sounding guitar all together. At first, I thought it was a bit harsh sounding when I plugged my regular JP back in. FYI, I'm playing thru a triaxis -> G-major -> ADA microtube 200 into 2 1x12 Mesa thiele cabs. Then it clicked: the BFR is simply more cutting, and produces a much fatter sound with a larger sonic pallette. Notes are richer, and they have more harmonics and magic happening.

Mine was set up with 10's. JP might be playing 9's now.

As far as the added push/pull. It sounds great for an additional clean tone, which is louder than the split middle position, which for me was the only drawback of the old style switching. Great sound, but the volume just dropped out and you would have to compensate somehow.

The verdict: Double Secret tone block is the shiznit. The guys in SLO know what they are doing/hearing. All I know it was an agonizing decision for me between the BFR and a Blue Dawn LE. Now that I have the BFR, it was an easy choice, really! If they decide to roll it out across other models, it will be amazing.

Neck is nice. It was a bit sticky due to the humidity and you just don't get that with the old birdseye. Eventually, when I get the heart up I will be doing the old 3M green pad rubdown and get a satin feel to the neck.

Low do not 3m your neck...make sure yourhands are clean and wipe the neck before playing and there is no problem

I haven't noticed a big change in weight at all.

The biggest changes are the removal of the arm scoop which is replaced by a normal contour and the treble horn has been made a bit smallar to allow better access to the upper frets.

BP- If you say don't do it, I will comply.

I wouldn't be unfinishing the neck. It scuffs it up slightly giving a satin feel. I've done it on other guitars with sealed necks. Your playing hand actually buffs it back up after a while and then you would redo the treatment when needed.

I still find it very strange to see a JP without the arm-scoop. From my point of view one of the very things that makes/made a JP that interesting for me as a regular gigger (I always scratch the skin of my arm after playing for hours ) was the scoop. So the BFR looks still very nice to me but a "regular" JP still grabs my attention a lot more than the new JP.

BFR JP looks awesome- I so wish I could get into the JP to take advantage. Me, I'm plenty comfy with no arm scoop (Morse, Axis).

The BFR does have a scoop which is very comfortable and quite large compared to most regular guitars.
