Hi all, I haven't been around for quite a while, guess why!! The girlfriend's hysterical, I don't answer my calls, I've stopped eating and I have become hyper-sensitive to daylight... either I have been bitten by a creature of the night or I have recieved my BFR Luke months earlier than I was expecting and can't put it down.
I own two custom shop pre-Fender Jacksons, a Yamaha SG3000S, an Ibanez JS1000... oh, errr... and a Fender Strat but the BFR has without doubt the best build quality, playabilty, tone and good looks of any of my guitars or any that I have seen or played for a very long time. I can't begin to say how pleased I am with this musical instrument.
Thank you BP for making these available to us grunts, Luke (for inspiring me for years and of course the guitar spec) and the fantastic guitar makers at EBMM. Thanks also to Dave at Machinehead for bringing this beauty into the UK for me so quickly and many thanks to all of you guys here for providing so much info and advice. I'm going back to my studio to play some more now... I'll post pictures soon, I promise. :D

Nice one Rage.

Have you played a regular Luke to describe how the BFR compares? It would be interesting to add your comments to those on the BFR Luke sound thread.

And get those pics posted quick! :D

I'm afraid I haven't played a regular Luke!!! Very odd I know but I have never come across one anywhere in my neck of the woods. I just did some research and then went straight for the BFR.

I only ask because I'm gassing for a JP 6 with peizo badly and I can't afford to buy one unless I sell one of two, my JS 1200 or my LP Standard. Oh well not trying to hijack your thread, just wanted any insight on the JS series compared to the JP's or Lukes. The Lukes are catching my eye as well. I will say the way it's going I'll soon be 100% Balls.........

hey no worries zepplin. The JS and the Luke are very different guitars of course and on a number of levels I am fond of both. My favourite passive pickup is most certainly the Fred, it's voicing is very different to the active EMGs on the Luke which I love for different reasons. All in all it's a matter of taste. I have a massive amount of respect for EBMM instruments and the JP is by all accounts a fabulous guitar... it depends what you want. I love the Luke beyond reason but I'm also glad that I have kept the JS and my others. Keep your guitars and get whichever EBMM suits your style aswell.
I find that if you chip away at the women folk over a sustained period of time they eventually give way!! Lol. ;)

Thank you francric and fsmith your guitars read like a list of 'best of EBMM' lol.

BP, I need to make sure the pics do the guitar and the work that has gone into it justice... they're coming soon.

Hey there Rage,

Really glad that you've fallen in love with that BFR it was a peach - just hope the Bahama Blue Flame one that is coming for me is as good!

Enjoy it and if you need anything you know where we are.

Last week I played the two side by side and the BFR was heavier, I dont want to say the standard Luke sounded thinner but the BFR had more balls behind it - and it looks cool to boot - :D

Tah Dave... you were sooo right about the top, it's half flame, half quilt... gorgeous. This thing fits my playing style to perfection too. I have taken the photos now and will be posting a link very soon. I think I've captured it's beauty and quality... well, as much as I can in a photo anyway!
Once again thank you for everything.
