I don't recall seeing this in any particular thread.

I know the upgraded top option is gone bye bye.
So if ordering a BFR, do you have the choice between quilt or flame? or is it just the luck of the draw?

I think the quilt/flame depends on the guitar. The flame looked amazing on the Luke in Bahama Blue Burst. Where as quilt looked awesome on the JPs.

There are pics of a ruby flame and a ruby quilt F1...

Something like flame verses quilt isn't something that most people would be willing to leave to chance I don't think... especially on such an upscale priced instrument.

Yeah. I'm not generally into flame, but sound and feel are more important. Definitely, i prefer quilt, but if the guitar sounds right and feels right, well...flame vs. quilt? Not as big an issue.

I like the flame and quilt maple tops the same, but i'm leaning more towards the flame after seeing that bahama blue luke in those NAMM pics, just awesome....
