Any of you BFR petrucci owners out there? How do you get on with it? How do you set it up? Any tuning problems?

I just came back to the UK from the states recently where I picked up a few guitars. One was a PRS private stock and the other a BFR 6 in bahama blue. This is my first try out of music man guitars, Always been a PRS user and a Suhr if I am in the mood. Thing is, I just can't bond so far with the BFR. Finding just ever so slight tuning problems when I bend or use the bar. Its not bad, just goes out slightly but I don't want to be in that situation live. Its a lovely guitar. I knew when I used it in the shop that it needed a re string and a good setup. I maybe just struggling to adjust to a new make. Even when I pick up my Suhr's I don't find them as loveable as my PRS's. How are the music man Lukes? Wondering if I should offload the petrucci and try the lukes?
I think I am just struggling to adjust. Seems to be a very sensitive guitar, maybe due to the thin neck. I must say though the attention to the detail on these instruments are exceptional. I fell in love at first sight with the quilt top on this thing. Just hope I get my tuning fixed. Tried nut sauce and going to get a reputable tech give it the once over in the next few weeks.

One question though guys. Are all the BFR petrucci cases different leather colours? Mine is black but pictures online show them in tan or a reddish colour?

Congrats on the BFR and welcome to the forum.

I cannot help much on your tuning problems that you are asking about. I would say to reach out to customer service here first, they are the best in the business and will get things straight about any problems you are experiencing. I've owned several JP6's/JP7's, BFR's, and Axis. All of them I loved and still do, some of them just weren't suited for me but I still use a JP6 and Axis every day. While I had the BFR's, I've never had any tuning stability issues at all. I think it might be something that needs attention on the guitar, perhaps the nut or trem, springs in the back, tension etc?

I've played PRS and found them just OK, they don't do it for me like Music Man does. I've never grabbed a Suhr simply because there aren't any dealers that I am aware of near me who stock them to try out. Suhr makes great products though. As for your Music Man woes, give customer service a call on your free time. They can help you probably like no other guitar company you have used in the past can.

Of all the BFR's that I've owned, both came with the brown leather style case.

Mine both have brown leather cases with black interiors. Both stay in tune with sensible use of the waggle stick.
The necks are painfully thin though!

Hi, lame guitarist! I have some tuning problems with my JP BFR, whet it came to me first time. It was equipped with Ernie Ball strings. And every time I touch the bar or bend - strings moved a little bit. Then I switched to the Elixir strings and tuning problems goes away. But there's a new problem - the overall feel of the strings is stiff. I know I need to try different brand.
