Big Al and his buttons

Hi, got a question refering to the Big Al and his buttons (the 3 PU selectors). What does it do if NONE of them is pushed? the same as when ALL three are pushed?

(I just got it yesterday and havnt been to the rehearsal room by now. but as far as I can tell by just plugging it into the PC, the Big Al is one of the ubercoolest basses ever ...)

Is that tone similar to the Sterling HS in position 4 ? The Sterling HS is my favorite right now and it would be awesome to get that tone in passive mode(and in parallel)
