I have pulled the trigger on a PDN Gilded SR4 which I'm squirrelling gig money away while it's being built so buy another bass right now is out of the Q.

I guess I wanted to see how many other Australian Bass player were out there looking for Big Al's.

Nurnay and Colin, your both right EBMM are Expensive in OZ compared to the US.
Your a lucky guy Nurnay, living in the country of origin for EBMM and a lot of other awesome Instrument and Amp Builders. And I hear your retaillers are slashing the already low prices (compared to ours) to keep themselves moving with the hard times your having over there.
Colin does an incredible job as a retailer here in Australia, not only does he know his Sh*# on the Company/Products etc, he gives exceptional service and has stock on hand (tho Black is more my colour. Dargie isn't even an option for me :)

As a kid I had a Sci/Fi dream that I built a transport machine that you went to a Portal in say Melbourne Australia and you could go to any other Melbourne in the world, like Melbourne Florida for example (which I've never been to so I'm hoping for my dreams sake it not a hole in the ground, in fact I've never been to the USA).
How cool would that be to be able to Zapp over to the US and try out a handful of any given Bass and pick the best one and buy it at the US price (with the Aust dollar at or above parity) and Zapp back again?

I'd love a BA5 SSS. Been emailling the distro here and trying to find one of them or a Reflex 5 HSS is like finding a needle in a haystack!!

Oh well, will have to make do with my Bongo 5s (HH and HS) for the time being.

Hey StoneBoy,
Which stores have you seen Big Al's in in Melb cause I"m going to head into my Favorite store and ask the Q of them :) Maybe if we show a little support/interest in BA's we can get a couple in our local to buy? Sometimes it's a case of we as players aren't asking for them so the store doesn't think anyones into them so they don't want to buy in stock that might not sell (Have you ever heard the saying "Give them what they ask For").

rutgart - Bass Centre is the only place I really go looking at bass gear in Melb. I also go to Bass People in Sydney when I get up there - which is pretty often as my girlfriend lives up there.

Both have a pretty good range of EBMM basses and I have harassed the guys at both stores plenty about the Big Als. I think I play a BA5 H at Bass People once.

Although just recently I was having email conversations with a couple of the guys from CMC (the Oz distro) and it seems things like the Big Als and Reflexes get ordered in mostly by customers and don't often make it to the shops. Having said that, they didn't seem to give me the impression that a lot of Reflexes have come into the country yet.

Bass Centre Melb is a great place check out EBMM stock, I think Guy the owner is a massive fan of EBMM himself. I'll get in there and asked about BA's and see if he has had much other interest in them :)

Reflexes are very cool but I like I'll hold off till the Game Changer comes thru - Same shape, HH, Active/Passive and a hole lot more!!

Would love to try out a BA4 or Reflex, but the only EBMM basses we get up here in the far north are SR H and some Ray34/35s (ok not EBMM but you know what I mean). I even ordered my SR4 from Bass Centre.

I used to live in Brissy and miss the music stores down there. Will be in Sydney later in the year so plan on dropping into Bass People so see what they've got.
