Remember me? I'm the guy who loved the look of Big Als but whined for months about them not being available with necks wide enough for real men to play.

Then I got sucked in after I saw a black/tort 4SSS for sale, and bit the bullet, figuring if I didn't like the pencil neck then I could flip it pretty quickly.

But you know what? I love this thing. "But, how much do you love it," I hear you say. Well, I love it THIS MUCH .... I've just sold both my HH EBMMs (a Bongo and a Stingray) because the Big Al covers all that tonal territory and more.

So, I'm down to two awesomely wonderful EBMMs - the Big Al, and the best Stingray ever made.

Thanks BP and team, for making a liar out of me regarding the skinny neck.

Mark, if you ever decide to get a fiver.....the skinny neck isn't even a consideration.

Diggin' my Big Al fiver way too much,

My first thought was the quote is from Steve Miller Band.......next line 'some people call me Maurice....guitar slides up and down' but then realised it's Lennon (Imagine)!!

You guys have left me totally behind here - I'm an almost Bongoloid, and yesterday, played only the second Bongo I've ever seen in the flesh and the first Big Al (both fours) - to be honest I preferred the Bongo, maybe I need to try a fiver to get this.

I'm guessing the passive and series/parallel options on the Big Al give it a big plus over the Bongo though, in a band/recording setting?

I also don't like narrow necks and wasn't crazy about the neck on the BA4 SSS that I played at Bass Central, but the bass in every other way was so great that the neck profile would not have stopped me from buying it. In fact the only thing that stopped me from walking out the store with that bass was a slightly greater desire for marital harmony.

It's not an 'either-or' situation or else I'd be in big trouble.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of.

I keep noticing how RIGHT my Bongo is.

But I keep thinking about Alberto Grosso.

I'm very good at rationalization, but I hate waste. I don't want to have a bass that just sits around doing nothing. If it's in my possession it has to be there for a reason and "just because" doesn't hold water with me.

Hahahaha.....

Waitin' on the (hopeful) return of some fab colors, boss. Yeah, I know, you have to make what sells, but five different versions of monochrome?

Maybe if I concentrate real hard Purple a subliminal message Desert Gold will get through. Trans Orange Oh, wait, did I say that out loud? Damn....

The Bongo I'm not using enough is on ebay right now. 33 people watching it, about four days to go. I love a crowd.

You're right. Maybe this is the right place to ask for your favorite settings?
