Had a really big audition this week, and got a call back.... problem is, I'm out of town for work during the call back, which puts me in a pool for the next audition (which is who knows when). Would/could have been huge for me... super bummed :(

Played my PDN BFR for the audition and killed it! :)

Major bummer!!!! If you don't mind me asking, what was the audition for?
Sorry to hear about the bad fortune.

That's how the industry is... The OP must be a monster player though because session guys are the tops(aka Lukather).

I've heard of guys walking into an audition and get immediately cut because they didn't "look" the part.

I have an audition next week for a Judas Priest tribute band. I'm finding out that many of their songs are harder to play than I thought. You sure learn a new appreciation for music when you sit down and try to play it.

Thanks guys... Was really frustrated the other night.

It is a global act that has a "bench" of musicians so they are always staffed-- lots of performances, touring, writing. The music uses a lot of effects that have to be timed appropriately and sound appropriate as well, so the audition was two songs that were creatively selected to get a good cross section of timing, effect use, and emotion in different parts. I also auditioned for vocals as well, and that is part of the call back.

Made the first cut, but the call back is next week and I'm out of town for work-- they're doing one day, and one day only. I'm in a pool for the next time they do this, but as I said, who knows when that will be.

Rant over... :) Happy I at least got a call back... that is a small victory that says I'm at least doing something right. :) Onward and upward!

Don't forget to Rock Hard and Ride Free .... and wear some leather !

Good luck

(I learned a great deal about guitar playing when in my younger days, I learned all the songs from Defender of the Faith. The Sentinel and Jawbreaker are part of my warming routine)

So close, Spike! It was just bad timing. Good luck in the future.
