Two things have happened recently that I figured would be worth sharing with the forum.

First, I completed my Eagle Scout rank for the Boy Scouts of America a couple weeks back. It was a long and painful process, but I got it done, thank God.

Second, I'm graduating from high school tomorrow! I've been out for a week, but the actual ceremony is tomorrow. We're having a big party in the evening; I'll post some pics if I get the chance.

In other news, I picked up a HAO Rust Ride bass overdrive pedal. It's a great little device; it's not incredibly versatile, but it has a great bottom end and produces a very warm sound with loads of attack. The best part? I picked up for about a third of what a new one costs.:)

Finally, I recently got my first car. It's a 1966 Thunderbird, and although it may be a while before it's this nice, it'll be cool when it's done. It needs a lot of work, but it was only $600, so...

Here's a pic of what it could end up like:

The '66 T-Bird is my favorite of the whole series...actually had the pleasure of driving one when I worked at a gas station years ago; very comfortable and smooth riding!

Congrats on your accomplishments!

Good job man!! I got my Eagle Febuary of this year. My graduation ceremony is later this evening. I also got a car, it cost me almost 4 grand, then I had to drop $1200 in it 2 weeks later for a new clutch, but its mine.

Anyway, Congrats!

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments.

Do you have a pic of what the T-Bird looks like now?

One thing about it, they're pretty ez to work on compared to most of the late model cars around today.

Sweet car, my uncle has two 55's and one 57. I think he's crazy sometimes, and then I remember how many basses I own :p

I don't want to sound like a dink or anything but I'm curious if the Boy Scout comment is a joke? I could be totally out to lunch here (I am from Canada) but if someone in high school here were in boy scouts, let's just say they may have a rough lunch hour every day. Are Boy Scouts a different thing in the US? That stuff ends for kids around 14 years old here. Again, I don't mean any offence, just curious.

Best,
Tha Goat

I might be working on it today, so I'll take the camera out and see what I can do.

It is simple mechanically, but the electrical system is a nightmare of 60's technology.

No, it's not a joke. Dead serious.

I just didn't make it known to a bunch of people at my high school that I was in Scouts, and even then, I didn't collect any insults about it. People were actually kinda impressed that I'd stuck with it for that long...

Well, I forgot the camera, but the Bird's engine ain't frozen-it was a huge relief to hear that big 390 turning when I turned the key. We had to steal the battery out of my grandparents' '77 Lincoln Continental to make it happen, but at least there's hope.:)

I'll be out there more this week-and I'll remember the camera this time.

Nice looking ride. My dad raced cars when he was young, and then he spent 30+ years as a master mechanic. He's a real car 'buff'.

Consequently, I don't know squat about cars (not 'cause I don't love my Dad, which I do, but because I never needed to know). Now obviously, I can identify major engine parts, change a flat tire, identify a bullsh*t story when I hear one, etc. I'm just not a big car guy, I guess.

However, I have a weakness for those old Chevy Nomad wagons. I can't tell you the first thing about them, but I've always though they looked cool. :D
