Poppa- a few times you've said "guys, one day I'll tell you all about strings". Just wondered what stories you had to tell us (perhaps about the industry, branding, etc.?).

Can you tell us more?

You know I really have to be bombed to burst some bubbles. Sometimes I read posts where the player say's, "I put on a set of XXXXXX, and then the bass sounded better than the slinkys" I just chuckle in that know that that particular brand is made by GHS or Daddario and that the brand that the guy is bragging about is just a private label with no factory R&D just marketing hype. The few times I have had a guy tell me to my face that XXXX strings are better than mine, I tell them that I may believe it if the company actually made something. They never like discovering that they have been duped.

That being said we make our strings. There are only a few wire companies and we all buy from them. There are only two companies that make stringwinding equipment
and all factories have one or the other or both. It comes down to your quality control, your core to wrap formulas (most use our orginal ones) and your marketing.

I really believe that we make great strings .Im proud of our products.....

If you believe advertising claims of reaaranged molecules, voodoo processes and such than there are people who happily sell you snake oil.

WE do not make strings for anyone else just good old EB.

I was wondering if you're forecasting a major increase in price in the coming years. The price of nickel and other metals keeps going up. In the US it cost 1.5 cents to produce 1 penny (in Canada it is more like 8 cents per penny I believe) surely it must affect the string business as well?

I tell you that when I read about "inflation under control" I wonder what these fools are smoking. EVERYTHING that we buy has gone up insanely. It is startng to cut into my lavish lifestyle!

Thanks BP- that's exactly the kind of story I was looking for!

I always wondered if EB made private label strings for other brands, but know you guys don't (can't say I'm surprised at all).

Very proud all my guitars have EB only on them.

Now I'll have to wait until you're bombed in Dallas to pry some other stories of of ya.

I love EB strings! Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom and Beefys for life!!!

Just noticed a big diff in tone when I switched to these from another brand. I really dig 'em. And I would recommend them to anyone wanting more growl out of their current axe with 9s on 'em. My two cents.

My axes have been slingin' Super Slinky strings exclusively for over 20 years.
I can't even bear the thought of another brand.

Nothing but regular slinkys on my guitars. It might be my imagination but to me they don't corrode as fast as other brands...

As BP says, given that the big vendors use similar machines and material, I have to think they're probably all pretty close ...

through my years of playing almost 18 now... i've tried everything out there.
I staretd out playing EBMM's and loved 'em to death... but then i began to allow my mind to wonder... thinking if brand XXXXX or Brand XXXXXXXXX was better, The last time i ventured out i put 'em on... tuned 'er up and played 'em. Within 20 minutes i was in the car driving to buy my EBMM's i play EBMM's exclusively... i will not settle for less! I went into my local shop last week and bought 20 sets of my favorite strings (regular Slinks) ... I don't ever want to be caught without my Balls!

I'm generally happy as long as they're nickel. I tend to buy Classic Slinky's, but others will do in a pinch too.

Fellas (and ladies)

This might sound a bit anal....................but I'm gonna say it anyway...

I love my super slinky's buy 'em about 6 packs at a time, have you ever noticed the detail on the individual string packets ?

and if you read all the blurb on the back man.... you kinda feel part of something.

it's attention to detail that other string sellers don't have - I'll have slinky's on my guitars forever. -

Besides gotta keep Big Poppa in BBQ Approns!
