Just a couple of days ago it dawned on me what the difference is between the black pickguards on mid '90s EBMM basses compare to the newer ones: The new ones are shiny glossy while the older ones were satin matte (and no, that is not coming from wear, they were matte)

I actually prefer the look of the older ones, because they look deeper, more black. Can black matte pickguards still be ordered?

i don't know if you can order them, hey heres an idea though! Just buy a load of older rays with matte black pickguards! :D

For the record i prefer the look of glossy ones, i like shiny stuff :D kinda like how i prefer chrome to black hardware.

I prefer the matte PG's over the shiny ones. My 2002 SR4 came with a matte PG. I guess I'm afraid to scratch the shiny ones and that is why, haha...

Just recently I saw images of a 2002 or 2003 on the bay and it had a black matte pickguard.

I really would like where to get those originals because I'm looking forward to getting a torted Mary Kaye which I'd like to black out like Moondog's and Trussbroken's (you're the guys who gave me the GAS for the Mary Kaye... I hold you personally responsible if I can't find a black matte pickguard! ;))
