Just got a black Stingray from MF, because black guitars are awesome, but I noticed that on the website, the picture they show of the black Stingray at an angle is almost a black sparkle, but it's just labeled as black.

See what I mean?

Thoughts? Labeled as "Black, maple fretboard".

I don't want sparkle!

Just the angle of their pic?

I believe that is the black sparkle finish. That's what color my stingray is. It was also discontinued some time ago (2001-2002 or so I think). The regular black finish is just a plain old glossy black from what I've seen. I'm sure if I'm wrong, someone will correct me, but MF tends to put outdated pictures up all the time (just look at the nut on half those pictures....they don't show the compensated nut used on recent musicmans)

ok good! that's what i thought, the black at local guitar center was normal black, but very expensive and bad setup. Played one of the other Stingrays they had in a weird gold finish but a good setup and I loved it.

I got a good coupon from MF bringing cost of a black/maple one down to 1000 bucks, so I jumped on it.

thanks for confirming my suspicions!
