Waiting for me at home today is a new (to me) Black Sugar BFR Bongo5 HHp. I am literally bursting with excitement. Pics soon. Also, what does everyone think of Bass piezo? I have only ever had it in a guitar.

Think of piezo as extra seasoning for already-great tone.

We've kicked this can around a bit. A lot of us tend to use about 30 percent piezo, 70 percent magnetic pickups as our default setting.

Give it a try, but as always....

... if it sounds good to you, then that's what you should do.

More info...

- Many HH users tend to leave the magnetic pickup blend centered.
- Use the low EQ with extreme caution. You can do structural damage to your dwelling. Besides, diming it doesn't do anything particularly useful, unless you count making girls giggle when they sit on your cabinet. Personally, I tend to leave it flat.
- The low-mid knob is your friend. It adds punch and presence without mud.
- Start flat and go slow.....

Congrats on the new bongo!
IMHO, Bongo Bass piezo = a little goes a long way...

A little ? To each their own tone, I spoze.

Myselves I almost never go to the mag-favoring
side of the the center detent on the piezo-mag
balancer knob. Mostly I play about halfway from
the center click to the full-piezo end of the dial
.... and BTW I have the single mag PU lowered
as far down as the adjustment will go.

It's not rare for me to be playing 100% piezo.
Acoarst mine is FL with flats.

I like everyones input on the piezo. I have been playing with it according to everyones direction and I think it will take me a bit to find out what works best for me. Here is some pics.

I am a magnetic :) guy and usually do not use the piezo at all. Well usually... but the HHP can still surprise me.
This morning I dialed in a sound while playing some jaco-like riffs. So I put aside the Bongo 5H and used the Bongo 5HHP:

* only bridge pickup
* + on the low mids
* a little less than halfway between no piezo and center piezo
That gets me some nice singing, organic sound when I play above the Bridge PU.

Btw, nice Bongo you've got there! :)
