Block Fretboard Inlays?

Has there every been a StingRay made with block style inlays in the fretboard instead of the dot inlays? I have to say the picture in my head looks spectacular.

It's not real though, just a dream inside my head a VERY good photoshopper did for me. But it gives you a nice idea.
