In my search for Axis guitars (I seem to be after a Floyd model, a Sport both at once at the moment) I have come across a Blue Dawn Axis for sale.

I have never really seen this colour before as I have only really been following Musicman since about 2007/2008.

The one I am after doesn't look very sparkly at all. A little bit of glitter in there but nothing like some of the pictures I have seen, whch have A LOT. I know photo's and flash can change the looks of colours a large amount so is not always helpful.

It is a 1999/2000 era model, are they known to vary much?

Anyone with pics of a Blue Dawn Axis able to post some photo's? I am not 100% sure whether I want to make the purchase yet but perhaps need a bit of persuading by seeing some examples. Or perhaps saving me from buying a finish which might just grab my attention for a bit before I might come to dislike it.

EDIT: I have just realised there is a new Sparkle red colour to order, and there was also recently the Green Sparkle too, I had completely forgot that the sparkles were making a slight comeback (limited, I know), anyone think theres a good chance any time soon a Blue Dawn 2013/2014 model might be something I could perhaps instead wait for?

Great, thanks! Is there then a difference between Blue Dawn and some sort of Blue Dawn sparkle? I guess that would make more sense as I've seen some example's on Google that are VERY different, almost looking like two different finishes altogether rather than just variances on the one type.

I have a Blue Dawn JP6. In real life it is gorgeous but not a 'sparkly' as it appears in photos. Remember that the camera's flash will be highly reflected by the tiny sparkles in the paint but your eyes won't see that in reality (unless of course you have crazy eyes like some kind of alien emitting high intensity rays of light in which case everything will sparkle and you will have to wear eye protectors).

Still love my BD Luke. It's a classy sparkle. Found these pics in an older thread, showing the color pretty good and the amount of sparkle is pretty accurate.

The Blue Dawn from 2001 is the same color as the Blue Dawn from 2007. Yes there is some flake (sparkle) in the paint but the name never had "sparkle" in it.

Any photos that look like it has a ton of sparkle were either taken in extremely bright light or a flash was used. The flake is subtle until bright light hits it.

I have some BD guitars from 2001 and the re-released Limited Edition BD and the color is the same. It's all in the photography!

Thanks for replies everyone. It does look a really great colour to have an Axis in. Certainly something I think I'd like to add to a collection later on but for the mean time I will be going with something a bit plainer.
