Sub-title: My BFR's First Public Performance

Hi peoples, just thought I'd share something...

I was recently asked to faciliate a Blues Workshop. Moi? I'm not exactly qualified, but hey, the people who attended last Sunday knew even less than me about playing blues! It all went really we, and after 30 minutes, I had people -- who had never thought themselves capable of improvising -- noodling around on basic blues scales. They all looked very pleased with themselves. But the thing I enjoyed most was when I took my BFR Luke out of its case. This is what I saw:

They were speechless. And when they heard the BFR, they all went:

I consider myself really fortunate to have this beauty (and glad it distracted the workshop participants from my dubious playing ;) ). I'm very lucky, I don't think I'd have the BFR except for all the assistance Colin gave me last November. At that stage, I'd given up hope of ever owning a BFR, because none of the stores I contacted could tell me much about them other than telling me what the recommended retail price was. I struggled to track down someone - anyone - in my area who could hook me up with even a standard Luke. (For example, I tried a certain major dealer...they didn't return my phone calls, and I'm still waiting for them to reply to my emails  ).

Then I met Colin through this forum. A PM or two to Colin, and I had all my options laid out before me. Including the chance to snap this baby up within a matter of weeks, not months. I was mostly impressed with Colin's knowledge of EBMMs, especially when other dealers couldn't tell me squat. And Colin looked after me well from time of placing the order until it delivery. (Hey Colin, I'm still trying to save for my next BFR!)

Okay, you caught me out...this is really just an excuse to show off my prized BFR. Here she is, my kids call her "Ruby":

(Once again, Thanks Colin!!)

Awesome catch! You're having a good year so far aren't you David? :D

Ohh yeah! I've coveted EBMMs for years. They always seemed out of reach. Til now, my "best" guitar was a 20 year old Ibanez Roadstar II that is 18 years overdue for a good setup/fret-dress/service. But now I've picked up two EBMMs in three months...I've become seriously addicted. My wife gets worried whenever I go near the forum. ;)

I'm flat broke now, but that doesn't stop me dreaming. :D

Love these guitars. These Lukes make me want to play...and play...and play.

What amp were you playing through at the blues lesson?

I used a Marshall AVT/50. I bought it a couple of years ago 'cause it's small, relatively cheap and sounds good (to my ear, at least). It's a lot less stress than carrying around my old, battered Marshall JCM 800 head and 4-speaker cabinet!! This little amp gets a really nice crunch on the overdrive channel.'.just a touch of gain and it's got edge; a lot of gain and I don't need no stinkin overdrive pedal. ;) Some people don't like these hybrid amps, which is fair enough, but it suits my purposes and tastes.
