If you go by sound alone, I'm thinking about 200 lbs.

I played one the other day and I'm seriously thinking about making an '08 purchase.

My F****r RBV's neck profile was causing me some discomfort, along with the 11+ lbs. I was looking for an active bass that sounded somewhat organic (non sterile) with a narrower neck profile, twin bucks, and quiet under the stage lights. So while attending the CMS convention in Seattle, I sat in on psychic pet's class for bass players. The bass that I once turned my nose up at, became the object of my desire; Thus started my search for a 5HH. After the class, Pete was kind enough to let me hold his bass; no where near as heavy as my RB5.
I have owned a hand full of Stingrays in the 80's, and why I sold them all? it's a mystery to me. Active Jazz basses and Alembics were the side road I should have not traveled. I really hope this Bongo is the answer for me.

Peace, Steve

Bongo blues

:( I purchased a Bongo 5HH from a younger bro in Montreal (3 + wks ago). The check took forever to get there (held in customs) but he's got it now! He's been having some difficulty in shipping it out to me, due to being new in town, school or work schedule, and not being able to find a box to ship it in. My only hope is, that he'll ship it soon. I spotted this on TB last month....that's how long I've been thinking about it. If only I waited 2 more hrs. to send the check; usedtobeachacha e-mailed me and offered to sell his Bongo 5HHp to me....who knows, I could've been a Bongoloid by now. Just venting out of frustration; it's hard to be patient.:(

It's not a question of where he grips it ... it's a simple question of weight ratios!

Cool that the Bongo 5 weighs about the same as the SR4, huh? And the Bongo 4 weighs about a pound less ... hmmmmmmmmm.
