Hi Derek,
Could you please tell what colours the new Bongos are going to be available in and are there any special colours available for Bongos only and If so when will they be on the colour chart.

Thanks

Scott

The Music Man price list states the Bongos are available in 12 colors. They are Black,White,Egyptian Smoke, Sapphire Black,Rolls Burgandy,Graphite Pearl,Blue Pearl,Teal Pearl,Carbon Blue Pearl,Candy Red,, Desert Gold,Lava Pearl.

10 pickguard choices.

Since the Namm show is coming up in January we may be deleting or adding some colors. We never know till we get there. All these colors appear on the Music Man color chart.

Thanks

Derek

Please don't discontinue anymore colors. SinceI I've wanted a Stingray, MusicMan has discontinued each and every color I wanted this bass to be. Stratus Blue Sparkle, Burnt Apple, Red Sparkle, Black Sparkle, Translucent Blue, Autumn Sunrise. I've been forced to settle with Translucent Teal. When will this madness stop? If MusicMan ever decides to bring back Stratus Blue Sparkle, I'm getting one.

Nary a Bongo in sight so far this week!

Believe me, you'll hear me whooping and leaping about when it gets here.

Music Man president Sterling Ball designed the guitar, along with the Music Man R&D department, and BMW's award winning Designworks team.

Features include an evolved artistic shape, advanced electronics, color coordination and a patented compensated nut that greatly improves intonation. Several Music Man artists including Tony Levin, Dave LaRue, Cliff Hugo and Phil Chen provided input and testing during the two-year long project.

From our press release on the website. The bass came out because of our desire to try something new. We wanted a new shape to introduce because we wanted this new bass to look and sound different. We did not want to rehash popular designs and slap new electronics in it . The shape of the Bongo was a collaboration between Sterling Ball and BMW 's design team. They both exchanged ideas and a few shapes came to light one of which is what we now call the Bongo.
The Bongo does show some automobile influence especially the lines on the upper horn.

Dave Larue, Cliff Hugo and Phil Chen all came up to factory late last year to try some prototypes and lend their opinions. All were very helpful to the overall sound of the Bongo.
