Ok GK owners - any problems with the input signal clipping the signal chain? (possible 2001 or 1001 in the works)

How do you like the 1001 (and what cabs do you have under it) - the reason I ask is my wife ok'ed a new rig including cabs :D and I am looking at the 1001,2001 or a Mesa Blig Block (I know big difference)

I really like the 1001 a lot. Currently playing an EBMM HD500. I used the GK Neo cabs with the 1001. A Neo212 and Neo115. These are just great sounding cabs, abd the 1001 works great with em.

I run one of 2 Bongo 4HHs into a 1001 RBII => Neo 2x12 => RBH 115. Like everyone else said, there are no issues and the tone is spot on. Nice deep tone with plenty of mids and highs. The 2001 might be a better amp for you if you need all that power and the switchable distortion channel.

For what it's worth, I stopped even trying amps once I got this rig put together.....it's that good. I have an Eden Nemesis and a Fender Bassman that collect dust.

When I used to have the 2001RB my SR5 clipped the pre and I had to use the input pad most of time. The 1001RB on the other hand is VERY hard to clip.I believe I might have got the clip light to flash once or twice on extreme EQ settings. However when I let a friend use my rig at a show one time his Spector( that he bought from Tim Gaines of Stryper)started clipping right away. I quickly went onstage, pushed in the input pad and adjusted the volume. Everything was fine after that and there was still plenty of volume with the input pad in and master/input volume at 5. I was running at 4ohms though with 2 Neo 2x12 cabs.Running the 1001RBII at 4 ohms is when it really comes alive IME. IMO the extra weight of the 2001RB is just not worth the trouble when compared to the 1001RBII which does the job nicely for half the weight and price.............

So you like 2 2x12s (since none of the dealers around here have the Neo 2x12s)... I am torn between 2 2x12s ans a 2x12 and a 15.

How about getting one 2x12 and then see which direction you wanna go after you've had time to get used to the flavor?

I would go for the two 2x12's while you can.http://www.riksmusic.com has very good prices. The worst that can happen is that you don't like that setup and send it back for something else. Some guys like the Neo 1x15 under the 2x12 but I prefer having matched cabinets with the same exact frequency response, power handling and sensitvity rating which should mean no phasing problems also. I guess it's kind of the same concept of the two separate sealed 4x10 cabinets inside and Ampeg 8x10 cab except you can just use one cab when that's all you need.......

Hey,for all of the herbal types I have 420 posts,LOL!
