Since buying my Bongo 5 string I have always had a problem with my slapping due to the close proximity of the front pick up on the HH.
This is absolutely due to my technique and not the bass so it was something I had to address myself.
After talking to Guy at The Bass Centre in Melbourne (Aus) he suggested lowering the front pick up which I did.
I actually lowered it until it is completely "flush" with the pick guard and was surprised at how little it affected my tone ( just a slight tweak on the Bass knob fixed this) - which shows the awesome power of the 18v preamp!!
Just an option for anyone out there with sloppy technique who has the same configuration to try - works a treat.
