Our rehearsal space is the guitar players warehouse, and let's just say that after 93 degree heat and the ovens going all day, it was a tad hot last night. The fans we have running in the summer produce a decibel reading of over 70, so a few of the nuances get lost in the mix. Anyway, we have three guitars and drums, and finding that sonic space for the bass isn't always easy. In the past, I just boosted the mids on my Sterling (always had the bass boosted slightly), and everything was good. To cut to the chase, last night I dimed the bass on my Bongo 4HH, and I have to tell you, the earth definitely moved. Booty shaking goodness. I may have stumbled onto something.

I don't play much five string, so even though I've heard great things about the Bongo 5, I'm just going to stick w/my black SR5. At least for the time being.

I played a Bongo 5 for awhile at GC a couple weeks ago and I was surprised at how comfy it felt even with its narrow string spacing. It wasn't an issue at all for me like it has been on other narrow stringed fivers.

I need to spend some quality time with a Stingray 5 to see if it has that same feel.
