I had been wanting a Bongo 5 for a long time, and finally pulled the trigger on a Bongo 5 H/S/P. Now that I've had it for a few weeks, and a few gigs, I've found myself gravitating towards the piezo's on their own. Seems to have an amazing clarity and beautiful fundamental that the H & S seem to lack.
I've also tried highbeams, black beauties and chromes. Still gravitate towards the piezo on it's own.
Have I lost my mind? Or did EB nail the piezo problems with their pre? I notice no "piezo honk" or hollow sound which normally plague piezos.

Just wondering if anyone else had any similar feelings after getting a bongo, or any EB with piezo?

FYI - Running direct to power amp (Bass VAMP Pro pre bypassed) then to a Schroeder 1210 and/or Yorkville 1-15 and 2-10. And I play classic to modern rock

I had, with Bongo 5 HSp!

But my last favorite setting was balance 70% to piezo in the mix with magnetic pickups in balance approximately also 70% on H and 30% on S pickups! ;)

So, yes, ...I'm a more bridge player too, but in live performance need some neck pickup tones too, so..., dual pickup basses are my destiny!

Have had a Sterling H with piezo for almost 10 years now. EB did a great job with their piezo system. I usually go about 80/20 or 70/30 mag/peizo...though both pickup types sound good on their own. Once in a while, I tend to use straight peizo for recording.

My rather empty Bongo piggy bank suffered a hostile takeover by the Big Al SSS fund retention program. I am really intrigued by the possibilities there.

That's excellent! Hostile takeover. In my case it's usually something more like a hostile takeove by my mechanic. LOL

Thanks for replying guys. I've been doing lots of preamp tweaking in the last week or so to try to get the sound I'm looking for while still using mags, or mag/p combination. But damn, I still keep rolling it back towards the p's.
Maybe more time will tell?

But yeah, EB did a fantastic job on the piezo/buffer system. Thanks guys!
