There was a thread for a while discussing if no pickguard on a Bongo was nicer or not. Not sure if this forum or TB. (I eventually reveresed my opinion and went with the no PG.) However, I thought the stealth PG on the stealth paint was OK - if you are into the stealth thing.

Since I am more into the bright color thing - no PG would be cool. Some guy with plenty of Rics also has a lot of nice Bongo collection with no PG.

So - the answer is - if it looks better to the owner then that is the right choice! Enjoy your new look.

I've been known to answer to "some guy" every now and then. I like the roundness of the Bongo body when it's "naked", I have a white one that looks great without the guard, like a bar of soap, ice cream, etc.(no pics-yet) The Stealth was my first Bongo and I was very appreciative of the "stealthiness" of the pickguard so I left it on. Seeing the prototypes of the six string Bongo also imprinted a fetish, if that term applies, of how great the body looks un-guarded.

I went back and forth with the White Bongo with or without a pickguard. Here is a crappy cell phone pic without...
