I have a Bongo 4 HH that I put EB Super Slinkies on and I can't seem to dial in a low action like I can with my Stingray. I put TI Jazz Flats on it and it's a similar situation to the Super Slinkies, but the sound doesn't speak to me as much.

Will going up to Regular 50-105 slinkies allow me to set the action a bit lower without fret buzz?

I put this in basses rather than strings as it's more of a Bongo-specific question to me.

Bump.

Good question, I'd like to hear some responses on this as well. I've never really ventured out of the 45-105 range myself.

Thanks guys, and thanks for replying to the other thread mike. I forgot about that post, and your answer was very relevent to my current problem.

I found a set of regular slinkies in my gear box that I will try. I'll post how it works out.

I put the regular Slinkies on today and they seem to have made a big difference to the feel of the fretboard. I didn't adjust the trussrod after the TI JF344s came off but just lowered the saddles a little.

Very comfy with virtually no rattle now. It doesn't seem any harder to fret and I like the way my fingers pluck the slightly thicker stings without bending them as much. It really did change the way the Bongo feels to me. I like it.

Thanks guys.
