On the road to recovery, baby! And the Bongo is right there with me!

I have lots of time in bed this week, strapped into this CPM machine for eight hours a day
(at two-hour intervals). Perfect opportunity to work on my fretless technique.

That is I mean to say, to find my fretless technique! ;)

I missed the whole story but I hope the road to recovery is swift. If it makes any consolation, I know a guy that lost part of his leg and during his recovery really worked on his singing /songwriting. He ended up getting Australian songwriter/album of the year in the mid nineties.

I missed it, too, but there appears to be at least a small amount of tooth gritting going on in that photo. Regardless of the circumstances, it's always nice to have more time to play and you look like you're on the mend.

Well looky here at what I found. Cool! It's the modern world, all right. I had no idea:

Thanks guys! Rather than get all "saxnbass" on you, I'll consolidate my replies here: ;)

Sorry to here, but an excellent example of turning a negative situation into a positive experience.

Not too much gritting. And yes, it is facinating what can be done these days. I've got links to the ACL procedure if anyone is "really" interested!

I have this image of you playing glissandos in time with the machine....

uuuuuP......Dowwwn.....uuuuuP.....Dowwwn.....

Yep... I have thought about it, but it's sooooooo slow.

best wishes mate, hope you're recovery is a speedy one

man that bass makes me ache!

Thanks... I have a renewed love-affair with this bass.

Does that thing have a metronome built in?

Ha! Yes, and suddenly I find myself playing 64th and 128th notes with ease! :p

Dang Anthony, that looks painful! Get well soon bro!

Actually. it's not too bad. The first "session" of the day can be a bit uncomfortable, but once I'm loosened-up, this becomes the most comfortable time of day.

Funny thing is I can "feel" the sensation of the motion even when I am not in the machine!

Delivery!

Ed Friedland's "Building Walking Bass Lines" just arrived.

And I've been spending time with StudyBass.com as well (thanks Andrew!).

Days are growing longer... The nights are growing shorter...

Whoa, Stevie - even I bailed on that video 45 seconds in... (no offense, lreactl)

And, believe me, I got the time these days! :p

I am up to 65° flex this morning, and hope to be at 75° by end of day. Need to hit 90° by Thursday evening to stay "on track"...

And all the while I am working my little fingers to Bongo bliss.

hey, Im just saying, once you leave the comfort and the harmony of the bass world... its a dark dark dark road.... I just don't want to see "Anthony's lesson on how to sing 4 C's above middle C on youtube..." So morale of the story... keep at the fretless! :D
