Apologies if I am repeating the thread. Is there a bongo with maple fingerboard? Why not? Any plans, prototypes?(...they say there is no stupid questions, just stupid answers...):D I've tried to find the answer in old posts but no success.

It's just barely out of the factory at this point.

And while I've learned to never say never, I doubt maple is going to be an available option on Bongos in the near future.

Does that have a tighter nut spacing? A la SLO Special? It looks like the strings are 'angled' in a bit more at that nut. But maybe not.

I suppose one would have to ask the question: Why?

Many moons ago(one of my first posts on here I think) I was told by the 'powers that be'(Bovinehost I think it twas:)) that a Bongo would not work with a maple board(looks wise) - I'll admit it was a bit of a trollish post on my part, but I didn't mean to be. I just thought it would be a good idea. The more I thought about it, I kind of understood what he was talking about(as far as it not working aesthetically)-and I still do get his point. But at the same time, now, after seeing this picture. Yes, it works. I'm sorry but it does. I'd buy one. Go ahead, give me an excuse to buy another Bongo I don't really need :D

It will make two of us! Put me on the waiting list.

You can make that three, Big Poppa! Of course I'd love the choice of just the currently-available colors, but even if it were a limited run of Maple-'boarded Bongos in Black & Matching Headstock with Black Hardware & the new "modern" Tuners to judge sales potential vs production cost increases? You'd have my order*. And not an "I'm saying so now, but in six months not so much" but a "You'd have a Deposit inside of a week". These are, quite literally, the 3 "options" (Maple Fretboard, Black Hardware & more "Modern" Tuners that the old-school Cloverleaf design) I've been wanting to show up on the Bongo since it was released. :D

*...but the idea of either a Candy Red or Tangerine Orange HSp with Black Hardware and a Maple Fretboard? (Perhaps one Fretted & one Fretless... ;) ) I've just drooled my crotch soaking wet.

I'd try one too but I do think BP also said that it just doesnt look good with a maple board.

With utmost and utter respect we, the bass people are not in business of looking good ( some of us even can not :)), but to provide the music world so much needed lower end. And provide our fellow-drummers a bit of insight in a world of harmony. And to make our fellow-guitar players feel and play better than they actually are. And.... What a burden, actually?!?

I'm a "maple player", ...but I think that best looking Bongos are those with Ebony boards (DDII, BFR, Roasted...etc)!

Ebony should be a standard option for a Bongo!

keko, dark bongo with ebony is classic, like a tuxedo, but just take a look at your avatar and imagine white bongo with maple? Sexy or what?

Yeah, ...maybe that (white) would go with maple on a Bongo, ...but all other colors, ...I'm not sure?

I could see white and maple (no matching headstock) being a nice looking limited run, seeing as the white ones were discontinued due to the neck paint matching.
