Bongo owners,

Just got mine last week (love it btw) and was curious how many hours on average you guys are getting on battery life? I always carry spares to practice/gigs but am just curious. Thanks fellas.

The thought of trying to calculate actual hours of play gives me a headache. If you aren't playing flatwounds or coateds, you can usually plan on changing the batteries when you change your strings.

They last a billion years; but I also subscribe to the above advice.

Also, use a sharpee to note the date you installed them so you don't forget.

Great, thanks guys! I thought I'd heard they eat batteries fairly quickly but the 6 month or string change timeline I'm used to. Thanks again.

According the the faq section on the Musicman.com website the average battery life is 6 months. I hate to throw away good batteries so I test mine with a multi-tester. The minimum voltage required to properly run the instrument is 8.4 volts so as long as the battery output is above that it should be okay

That's good info right there! Thanks Kevin. I guess I should stop using my tongue as a tester.

Every solstice or so I break out the Radio Shack voltage tester to see what the batteries' health is like. They seem to last forever for me. As the esteemed maddog says, unplug it when not in use.
