The guys here have given me an amazing idea. To set up a European trading site for Musicmans and other vintage basses like the dudepit. Can you help me with some advice on how exactly can I do that ?

Well, it's probably going to be a lot harder than it looks on the surface.

The Dudepit is first and foremost a collection of friends - we're like brothers, most of us - and the "core group" has known each other for so long that we have built up a trust that can't be easily duplicated. And it isn't primarily there for us to buy and sell and trade, although God knows a lot of that goes on.....it's really an information repository, an advice column, a place to hang your hat and where they have to love you even if you're an asshat.

So yes, you can find some webspace and set it up, but it will probably take a long time to get anywhere close to what the Dudepit is.

Having said all that, I do think it's a fine idea to try to set up a place where our European brethren can swap basses. It's hard to keep the dealers away and difficult to know who you can trust and of course you have to make sure you protect yourself personally from any liability arising from deals gone south.

I'd be glad to advise you as much as I can, given that I don't know that much about anything in particular.

Mantaray, Have you not been to bassworld.co.uk.

Some of us regular users are now becoming good friends and are starting to trade equipment. Yes we get the youngsters with their dumb questions but there's an awful lot of valid, sometimes humerous discussion that goes on. It would a lot easier to develop an existing site than create a new one from scratch.

No No No. bassworld's been going for a couple of years and is very popular in the UK. It just needs to be taken to the next level.

Bov - did you see my question on Bongo EQ?
