I met up with Jack and Ben at the Dots show here in Cincy (actually it was Northern Kentucky) and the 2 are doing quite well on their cross-country trip. A few quick notes before my bed calls:
1) Jack was like a kid in a candy store. I have never seen anyone so happy to be at a show (I think the Kettle One was helping – but still, we should all be fortunate enough to be that happy).
2) Ben is just genuinely a great guy. He helped out this guy and it was nice to see that kind of caring. Long story, but trust me on this one.
3) It is reasons like these that I love this place and the people here!
4) Bob N. from the Dots is a true bad-@ss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jack, thanks for turning me on to these guys.

More later, but I just wanted everyone to know that the 2 wayward souls are doing just fine (I'm sure Jack will have picts up early next week).

Bob is a great guy, isn't he?

I met him at a gathering the other forum I'm on had back in April, and he brought a few cool non-EBMM instruments. Plus, he's a great personality and very helpful.

Sounds great...they didn't even call me for bail money so I know things are going well!

I, instead, got pressed into service remodeling one of Karen's bathrooms this weekend but she did buy me a bottle of Crown and a case of Becks so I'm all good.

Just yapped at the boys in Cincy via secret bat-phone # and they all sound like they need either more booze or a stripogram sent over. Lamb kabobs must be doing a number on them.

Got about 250 photos to sift through....somewhere in there is a photo of me with Ritch, I'm sure...

Jack was like a kid in a candy store. I have never seen anyone so happy to be at a show (I think the Kettle One was helping – but still, we should all be fortunate enough to be that happy

Bob Nyswonger is first just one hell of a great human bean. Secondly, his family is wonderful. Third, he has a great dog. Then I guess we have to admit that he's in one of my favorite bands on earth. Happy to be there? Oh hell yeah.

I haven't seen those guys since 1994. (They don't get to Dallas much these days.) This was a real treat for me, seeing the Dots, hanging with Bob, meeting up with Mr Oddjob and a couple of other imaginary friends, too.

Great weekend. Bob is the Master Of All That He Grills, too. We ate like kings.

Heh--I'm digging the shirt.

Glad you had a good time.
The shirt was just awesome... I think I need a "I drank with Jack and loaded Bob's gear" shirt for November:D (Bob has 2 classic Ampeg heads... man they are heavy!!!!)

That shirt was a result of a conversation with Tony Levin at the Open House.

Jack: "I'm not just a fan of yours, I'm a personal friend of Bob Nyswonger."
Tony: "Ah, yes."

Then we talk basses for a while, Bongos...

Jack: "In fact, I loaned Bob Nyswonger one of my Bongos for a while."
Tony: "I'm sorry, but I really have no idea who that is."

Then of course, feeling really smart, I have to explain that Bob is bassist for the Bears (with Adrian Belew) while Tony is of course bassist for King Crimson with Adrian Belew so I figured they'd know each other, if only...

Tony: "Oh, oh, of course I know him!"

So I relate the story to Bob, laughing like a hyena, and John Schmidt (bottomdweller) reads the account and within a week, the shirt showed up at my house.

That John's a funny mofo.

The Dots thought the shirt was a hoot.

And Bob's gear IS heavy. He sure makes it all sound good.
