Its a dual action truss rod...I dont think it would work all that great if it was a single vintage type. It is great by the way!!! Just to add to the rest of the posts hehe. Cant imagine doing a set-up on any other guitar at this point. I have been spoiled, and its GREAT!

This is what another forum member posted and it confused me
Hey BP sorry to bother you with this again but I had heard that you guys use a one way vintage style rod not a dual one

can you shed some light on this??

Thanks so so much!!'

Doesnt it make sense that it is NOT a single vintage rod, if you can adjust it both ways in a flash? What's the big deal whether its vintage or their own design...which BP also mentioned is also due to the geometry of the rod and the cavity? Dont mean to sound hostile or anything...:D

Not answering for BP, but Rob, the normal single action truss rod can be tightened or loosened, and when loosened the string tension creates the relief (in addition to whatever relief the guitar was built with). A single action truss only forces the neck in one direction (back bow). A dual-action truss rod will physically bend/force the neck in either direction, and adjusts opposite that of a standard truss rod. If you want more relief, crank the dual action until it gets where you want it to be.

So does this mean it's a double?

Sorry confused and yes it does matter to me

thanks for all the help guys!!

It actually feels like a single to me cause it takes more time for it to react when loosened

if I find this out it will clear a big headache for me!

What is the most common preference for playing? Perfectly straight neck with full tension or slight relief?

I stand corrected and there you have it. Either way, it's brilliant and it works. Just set up my LUKE yesterday and it was a breez :D.
