A friend, bassist Jim Chalifoux of Cambria, gave me this photo of a gig he did about 1991, probably in San Luis Obispo.

He recalls the woman in the photo as DeeDee Ball, Ernie's wife. She played piano.

If Jim was wrong, I apologize for the mistake. But it would be a small world, since Cambria is only 38 miles from San Luis Obispo.

Dee Die Ball was my grandpas third wife but was essentially my grandmother as she was around for alon time but not related. She was a world class jazz pianist but that isnt her in the pic. She died on stage at Cuesta College with the Jazz ensemble she coached...She was starting the show just her and her piano and sang the intro to entering heaven and dropped dead. It made all the papers nationally

She was a member of the all girl jazz band THe Ina Rae Hutton trio..My grandma was an unreal pianist.

She was near 80 and took the cuesta college vocal ensemble and jazz band to Montreaux
