Ah, the relic topic again.

I used to think that I'd never buy a relic'd guitar. Well, I went back on that. I got one last week. It's "faded" and used and was made in 2008. Why did I get that? Well, it's an iconic shape that has a lot of inconsistency associated with it over the decades. This series of "faded" guitars was reputed to be pretty consistently good. So, I went looking for one. I found a used one pretty close to where I live. Frankly, it sounded and felt better to me--even more EBMM-like with its satin-like/natural neck feel--than any example of that guitar I found in a GC. If it didn't sound better and feel better than any of the other guitars shaped that way, well...I would never have gotten it.

I don't know if the faded finish has anything to do with the tone. It could. Sure. I think it might have to do more with the chambering in the guitar and probably the wood the factory was using for that series of guitars.

So, I suppose, never say never. I used to think I'd never get a guitar shaped like that. Now, I've got one. EBMM is still number one in my book, though. I feel like I had to do a ton of research to find a good guitar of that model/by that company, and I would probably not have bought one without playing it first. Never had to do that with an EBMM, especially ones set up like from the factory. I'll buy an EBMM sight unseen.

my two cent. I dont see the problem with it at all. If people like relics then build them and let them buy them. Ive always wanted a reliced sunburst silo. why? because ive always like the way fenders looked reliced and thought how cool a silo would look. take that a step further and put a locking floyd in it and i would buy it fo sure! its funny to me that around here everybody is totally geeked when they get a new ball. so they put their pic of it up and it looks just like the last one someone else put up of theirs. nothing wrong with that but for me i think id like a lil somthing different. could i go to some other company for a relic? sure, but i like EBMM's!! so my vote is, yes do some relics! ok let the slamming of me begin! LOL

I think of it like this..We*re born as babies..beautiful,soft,perfect...We grow older,get wrinkles,get fat,lose hair,,,,basically turn into relics...we aren*t relics from the getgo...we age naturally..so should guitars...

BP.Your guitars are wonderful, and in mho vastly superior to the competition.I*m a happy relic, playing nice shiny EBMM guitars...If playing a beaten up looking one made me
play better,I*d be first in line....
