I just got a brand new EB Stingray 5 as a gift. Totally AWESOME BASS!!!!
Now I got questions for some of you experienced players here. I am an experienced player but NOT on a bass of this quality.
I've played a Fender Deluxe Jazz (mexican) as well as Peavey and Yamaha.

My 1st question is in regards to initial set-up.
string height?
nut (groove) depth
Bridge adjustment

I am totally stoked to have a bass of this quality.

Please reply and help me get going ASAP. I can't wait to plug in a listen to this thing cranked up!!!

Hi, and welcome to these forums.

Not being pro, I still try to answer your question adequately.

If the bass is really brand new, as in "just came from the factory", there's really no need to adjust anything except the truss rod. It should come with a good noise free setup that's neither too high nor too low. Please refer to the EBMM website if you're interested in the measurements used for a factory set up.

One piece of advice for the novice to EBMM active instruments: Don't crank all the controls! Start with the tone controls (bass, mid, treble) at their center detent, and open the volume only about 50% - 80%. Also, set your amp equalizer flat. Then play around with the controls on the bass. If you're lost, set everything back to center, volume slightly rolled back.

The goal is to make the bass sound the way you want it, and have the amp amplify it as neutral as possible using it's equalizer to compensate for room acoustics.

Enjoy your new StingRay 5!

Well done, what a great gift!

What pickup configuration does it have? A single humbucker? Two humbuckers? A humbucker and a single coil?

It's also normal protocol to post a picture when you get a new bass so we can all go "ooh" and "aah" :)
