bridge parts?

what are those cylinder looking thingys next to the E and G saddles? what are they there for? what is their purpose? thank you.

Skabassist 13

They are extra bridge posts thats anchor into brass plates inside the body. The bridge is also anchored by three phillips screws at the base below the intonation screws.
